melodies composed in Rag Shivaranjani

This ia a song, from the film Professor depicting melancholic mood of the hero and heroin, aptly composed in Rag Shivaranjani to suit the mood of the situation.Rafi and Lata made this song a haunting melody with their superb rendering.

Meranaam Joker is remembered for it`s excellent music score by SJ.The heavy orchestra used in the music includes 100 violins which is rare phenomena in film music. The melodious tunes composed investing the classical Indian music scales are haunting the  connoisseurs even to day.
Jaane kahangaye vo din- an outstanding composition in Rag Shivaranjani aptly tuned to suit the mood of the situation. The rendering by Mukesh depicting melancholic mood of the song made the song evergreen.

This song made the composers ,the lyricist Shailendra and the singer Mukesh immortal

This an intelligentl composition of the composer duo rendered emotionally by Md.Rafi for the film Suraj.
The rag Shivranjani depicts the mood of melancholy. But the duo made an experimentation by composing a romantic song in Shivaranjani by giving stress on certain swaras suitably to sing a romantic song.

Ican challengingly state that no composers of the present generation ,they might have bagged  the  world`d highest music awards ,can  never reach the greatest heights that SJ have reached.

a romantic melody

This is romantic song composed by SJ for the film `April fool'.
This song is remembered for it`s romanticism and  unique combination of romantic tune, extraordinary orchestration and excellent and romantic rendering by Md.Rafi..
This song was composed in Rag Keeravani (G minor)

Hats off to SJ!

Hope you enjoy this romantic melody

Shankar-Jaikishnan -the melody kings

For the better part of two decades ,the name Shankar-Jaikishan was synonymous with hit film music.Ever since the prodigal duo blazed their way in to the film music fitment with `Barsaat',they set a number of trends.

Shakar-Jaikishan were the first music directors to go for orchestration in a big way and to their creativity...asin `Ghar aaya mere pardesi' from `Awara' .Their music ,which changed strikingly in style from the fifties to the sixties ,never failed to make waves and the immortal `Awaaraahoon' is still hummed in the bylanes of India-and Russia nearly 55 years of it`s creation.

In the sixties, thanks to SJ,the Music Director ,became the most important person in a film,All those town romances ran mainly because of their melodies, which also contributed significantly to the popularity of stars like Shammi Kapoor and Rajendra Kumar. What is more,an impressive number of the more mediocre piggy -backed their way to success, using the SJ magic as their vehicle.

Un questionably among the most versatile music directors to ever have composed music for films ,SJ were equally at ease with the soulful ,the jazzy and the classical.

Even after five decades .their era is over, but so tremendous has been their influence, that even to day we have any number of new composers trying to ape their style. The ghosts of SJ melodies still loom large on the film music horizon.
